Brewers Best American Pale Ale

I have used this American Pale Ale kit for years as a base for making Spruce Ale, Wintergreen Ale, and Yellow Birch Ale. When brewing these, I eliminate the final hops addition with 5 minutes remaining in the boil, and substitute a double handful of spruce tips, wintergreen leaves, or shredded yellow birch bark. Doing this prevents the hops from overwhelming the flavor that I wish to come through. I no longer use the bottle caps, so I am accumulating quite a few...Art project?

Great kit, Well balanced with just the right amount of bitterness for this style of beer. Bought a second kit because I liked it so well.

This was my first batch and it turned out very well. It looks and tastes very similar to Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. After 2 weeks being in the bottle it was still a bit cloudy from the yeast and bitter from the hops. Over the next week or 2 it cleared up very nicely and the bitterness mellowed. I'm not a fan of APA so probably won't order this again but this did turn out very well for an APA so I give it 5 stars and recommend it for anyone who loves a hoppy APA.

This was my first Real Attempt to home brew. Plenty of fun! Beer came out very clear (I forgot to add the whirlfloc tablet!!!) and tasty. I couldn't resist to open a bottle yesterday as a Bday present and with just 1 week of conditioning, beer is great! I'll brew again for sure!
