These are no longer the AIH (or old ale) kegs in the picture. They are a cheap AMCYL knockoff from India now. They smell terrible (strong rubber) for weeks now, won’t seem to go away. And the lids are very cheap. I complained via email, was told that AMCYL or northern brewer single handle kegs are all they will have from now on, and the marketing team will fix it eventually. Mine are going back.
Bought 2 of these more than a year ago before the prices went up. The quality is quite good (from China). I did find that the black plastic ring at the top does flex somewhat when picking up a full keg (never happened with the old corny kegs). Today, I was not paying attention and put my gray and black connectors on the wrong posts, and they actually went on! Many times, I have tried to connect to the wrong posts on old corny kegs, only to find their resistance told me I was an idiot. Apparently, these new kegs are not idiot proof, but still a good deal.
I previously ordered two of the "Old Ale" kegs and they were great. This last order is some discount keg from India. Smells terrible, material for lid seems to be aluminum and bends when I close it. Posts are not set correctly, dip tube is straight and hits the bottom, rubber handles are not molded, they are cut. Stay away.
I bought three of these Corny kegs last year to use with my new kegerator. I needed to buy two more this year but wanted to pay less than these cost. That was a mistake. I first bought used kegs, but didnít like that they were dented, the handles bent and ball locks didnít connect easily. I then bought less expensive kegs from a different provider, but the rubber handles had a very strong off-gassing odor that did not go away and I didnít want near my beer. So after trying different options, I came back and bought these AIH kegs. They work great.
The 5 Gallon Ball lock Keg was Shipped well and came to me in Perfect Condition. I am currently using it for a Christmas Ale I Brewed, and is functioning Perfectly. Thanks AIH. Sincerely Jeff
