Want to make a Yeast Starter? Home brewers are always led to believe making a yeast starter is for the advanced brewer. This could not be further from the truth. If anything beginning brewers should start with yeast starters. When you think about it they are nothing more than a small extract brew. Show Me How To Make A Yeast Starter

NOT the best shipping option

I figured it's December in Virginia, probably won't need an icepak to ship brewing yeast from Michigan to Virginia; It got shipped from Austin instead, and in a small bubble pak envelope, perhaps NOT the wisest way to ship a SMACK PAK of brewers yeast?! Problem is, the Pak has Already Been Smacked, there is no nutrient pack left in the Pak; maybe it will be ok as I usually do a yeast starter anyway, but it is disappointing as I don't really know How Long it has Been since the Pak Got Smacked! If it was a Warehouse Incident months ago the yeast cells may have issues by now... just won't know till after the yeast is pitched in a starter now.... like I wrote, Disappointing.

Very Nice

Very nice. Flocculates very well. One shot pitch with no problems. Started fermentation within a few hours. Perfect German flavor.

Great yeast for malty lagers

I have been using 2633 as my house lager yeast for malty styles for a few years now. It makes a great Octoberfest, but don't overlook it for other malty styles like Dunkel or Bock, either. It accentuates the malt and results in a rich, crisp-finishing beer. If you oxygenate well, sulfur production is minimal.
