Description

Kölsch Wyeast

WY2565

Species : Ale
Fermentation Temp Range (°F) : 56-70
Apparent Attenuation Range (%) : 73-77
Flocculation : Low
Alcohol Tolerance : 10%

Pitching/Fermentation : It produces low or no detectable levels of diacetyl. This yeast may also be used to produce quick-conditioning pseudo-lager beers and ferments well at cold 55-60°F (13-16°C) range. This powdery strain results in yeast that remain in suspension post fermentation. It requires filtration or additional settling time to produce bright beers.

Notes : This strain is a classic, true top cropping yeast strain from a traditional brewery in Cologne, Germany. Beers will exhibit some of the fruity character of an ale, with a clean lager like profile.

Best Styles : American Wheat or Rye Beer, Berliner Weisse, Bière de Garde, Cream Ale, Düsseldorf Altbier, Fruit Beer, Kölsch, Northern German Altbier, Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer

Want to make a Yeast Starter? Home brewers are always led to believe making a yeast starter is for the advanced brewer. This could not be further from the truth. If anything beginning brewers should start with yeast starters. When you think about it they are nothing more than a small extract brew. Show Me How To Make A Yeast Starter

Deader than dead

Put into fridge the day it arrived. Date on bag was fine. Bag was not swollen. Would not activate. Pitched it anyway hoping for the best..... nothing. Went to local brew store, bought a similar profile dry yeast which took off immediately. I'm not ordering liquid yeast through the mail any more. Pleased with how painlessly my purchase was refunded.
