Rye Whiskey Kit

Craft a bold and spicy rye whiskey with our Rye Whiskey All Grain Distilling Recipe Kit. Designed for distillers who appreciate the rich complexity of rye, this kit delivers a whiskey with a distinctive peppery bite, balanced sweetness, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. Featuring a traditional mash bill of Rye Malt, Flaked Corn, and Distiller Malt, this kit provides an authentic base for a classic rye whiskey. Enzymes are included to ensure full starch conversion during mashing and fermentation, maximizing fermentable sugars.

Enzyme Use:

  • Alpha-Amylase Enzyme – Added during mashing to break down starches.
  • Glucoamylase Enzyme – Added during fermentation to ensure full sugar conversion.

Fermented with Still Spirits Distiller’s Range Whiskey Yeast (included), this wash develops the robust, grain-forward flavors expected from a high-rye whiskey. Still Spirits Turbo Clear is also included to ensure a clean and refined wash before distillation. With an OG of 1.075 and a target ABV of 9.5%, this kit is designed to produce 5 gallons of wash, ready for distillation into a bold, flavorful rye whiskey.

More About Rye Whiskey

Rye whiskey has a long history in American distilling, known for its bold, spicy character and grain-forward complexity. Aged in oak barrels, rye whiskey develops warm flavors of caramel, spice, and toasted grain, making it a favorite for both sipping and classic cocktails.

Whisky vs. Whiskey: What’s the Difference?

The difference between whisky and whiskey primarily comes down to geography and tradition:

  • Whisky (no "e") – Used in Scotland, Canada, and Japan.
  • Whiskey (with "e") – Used in Ireland and the United States.

Why the Difference?
The spelling variation dates back to the 19th century, when Irish distillers added an "e" to distinguish their whiskey from Scottish whisky. This convention was later adopted by American distillers.
