Pair it with Shades of Gourd Extract Special

Pair it with Shades of Gourd Extract Special for a pumpkin black and tan. Friends and relatives loved it. Great change of pace for autumn/Halloween/Thanksgiving. Instructions were easy to follow and the result was tasty.

Good

Made this beer a few months ago. I used a can of pumpkin in the boil. It turned out ok. Creamy and complex feel/flavor. Needs to age more because of the pumpkin, but overall OK. Not really a stout per say, the abv, and flavors I don't think fall into that category, but it does have a great head (slightly tan), dark color, and toasty. The spice supplied with the kit is perfect. It has enough to be noticed but not overpowering as most commercial store bought pumpkin ales. After kegging this beer, I used the supplied priming sugar, let sit in a warm room for a few weeks to establish good carbonation, and let it sit in the cold for a few weeks before tapping. Overall, I'd say it's a strong 4 star brew.
