Stout?

I picked this batch to have a stout on tap for stout month (February), but this is no stout. Recipe states 1 pound of English Roasted Barley, but my bag with the included ingredients of 0.0625 pounds (1 oz). This was barely enough roasted grains to get a SRM of 10-12 maybe? I assume this was an error. This is more like a British mild?

No idea what to call this style of beer

I grabbed this recipe intending for it to be a low abv stout to keep on tap through the winter. Almost grabbed the guiness clone, but figured I'd give this one a try. Brew day went great, everything as expected, but when I moved it to the fermenter I noticed it was very light in color. Thought it was strange but left it alone. At packaging it was still very light but tasted pleasant. After kegging and carbing it was clear this was absolutely not a stout. It's very drinkable, but has zero roasted character. Kind of just a beer flavored beer. See the attached picture. Yes its cloudy, it's the third pull off the keg and I didn't use finings since I was expecting it to be pitch black like the picture on the recipe 🤣

Since the below review mentioned too much coffee flavor, I was confused. I emailed customer service to ask if perhaps I was sent the wrong grains, or what could have happened. They didn't give any technical response, but were very quick to ship me a different recipe of my choosing as a replacement. Five stars for customer service, one star for this recipe...that said, if perhaps I got the wrong grains sent to me, then maybe this recipe isn't actually bad.

As for other users not receiving a recipe sheet...this is now the norm, you've got to look at the website and download it.

directions

would have been better with directions, didn't know how much to add, how long to boil etc.. not good for beginners.

Good stout

I liked this recipe but I did find that it had a little more coffee flavor than I prefer.
