Bold Chocolate Flavor!
Double Chocolate Stout All Grain Recipe

I created this recipe a few years ago for my sister who liked to drink stouts and eat chocolate and wanted to simplify the process. It's a medium gravity stout with a pound of chocolate malt and six ounces of baker's chocolate (not included) balanced with lactose. I like to use a British ale yeast with this one but you can get good results with the Fermentis S-04 dry yeast as well.

Yield : 5 Gallons
Original Gravity : 1.059
Final Gravity : 1.052
Color / SRM : Chocolate Brown
Alcohol by Volume : 6.00%
IBU (anticipated, alpha acids can fluctuate) : 31

Specialty Grains : Chocolate, Crystal 40L, Flaked Heat, Roasted Barley
Hops : Cluster, EK Goldings

Recipe Includes : Base Malt Grain, Specialty Grains & Hops

Great kit

Great kit. Added a 7 oz of maltodextrine, 1/2 cup bakers cocoa slurry in the boil and cocoa tincture in primary for a triple chocolate stout. Hard to go wrong with this kit.

Mm mm good!

I have brewed this twice with great results. The first time was when a friend asked for a chocolate cherry stout and I added a dram of cherry flavoring. He still raves about it, but I only thought it was okay. The second time I added Peanut Butter extract; winner, winner! The best way to describe it was dessert in a glass. Sweet Baby Who? It was that good.

Very good stout

Brewed as per directions adding 6 oz Extra Dark chocolate. Really funky looking "globs" racking to secondary but cleared out come bottling time. Somehow chocolate just begged to be spiced up a bit so, bottle 2.5 gal as brewed, and 2.5 gal with 4 dried chipotle peppers soaked for 1.5 weeks in 6 oz of vodka. Both are fantastic! A must brew for sure.

Excellent! If you are a chocolate lover!

I added 8oz of unsweetened dark cocoa powder at 15 mins mark. Soaked on vodka 2 vanilla beans and 8oz of cocoa nibs for a week and added to secondary for 2 weeks. Added 4oz of hazelnuts extract on bottling (What can I say... love Nutella). Chocolaty? yes! a lot!!
