Top Shelf Shamrock Whiskey Flavoring

The essence that I ordered is an outstanding ingredient to my homemade Irish Whiskey. It is also reasonably priced.

In a blind taste test, the participants couldn't differentiate between the Top Shelf and a leading brand of Irish Whiskey.

This has a very fake artificial flavor. Carmel and carmel coloring flavors, none of the clean Irish flavors and no smoke. I read a great review of this stuff so I gave it a try and??? I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the rest. I like Irish whiskey and in a blind tasting I don't even think I would call this Irish Whiskey. Irish has a touch of smoke like a scotch but milder and very clean but not sweet flavors. This has a bit of sweetness and some candy like carmel notes. And that may be OK in some mixed drinks and as a way to take the edge off harsh vodka or other clear spirit maybe it has some use. In college when we were drinking really awful stuff this might have been a plus, but there is no real comparison to the real thing. And that is unfortunate, or great of real distillers, because I had dreams of inexpensive "good" liquor, this is not that.

I used this flavoring in store bought vodka I filtered through carbon filter, and WOW!!! This tastes better than any commercial Irish Whisky I ever bought! It's peaty, a tad smokey, a teeny bit sweet but not too sweet, and totally reminiscent of a misty day in an Irish Pub!
