Extra Special Bitter (ESB) Recipe Kit

ESBs are essentially more aggressive and more balanced Bitters, both in alcohol and hop character, but nothing overpowering. Color range will be similar, though leaning towards the darker end of the scale; dark golds to copper. Low carbonation. Malts tend to be more pronounced, often toasty and fruity, with maybe some notes diacetyl. And despite "bitter" being in its name, ESBs are not really all that bitter. They key to an ESB is balance.

Wow! Probably my best batch yet

I had an excellent brew day with this one, and fermentation seems to have gone great as well. I used S-04 yeast along with yeast nutrient (first time using yeast nutrient, so maybe this is the trick for me).

On day 15 I kegged it and gave it a taste. It tasted fantastic! I've brewed around 30 extract batches before, taking a 4-year hiatus from brewing, but the taste of this was definitely at the top of all my brews. Now it's just onto carbonating. Highly recommended.
