A darker candi sugar commonly used in Belgian Ales.
- Belgian candi sugar is crystallized beet sugar. It comes in diamond form without strings and is used to produce many unique Belgian beers.
- Candi sugar increases the alcohol level and can be used also to change the color of the beer.
- Dark candi is generally used for Dubbel, Old Bruin, and holiday styles.
- Usage: The amount used depends on the recipe or individual taste. Generally, the range is 8 oz to 2 lb in a 5 gallon batch of beer.
