(2" stir bars are too long for this device, while we have had success using the 2" bar, it will be "thrown" from the magnet when the motor is at high speeds.)
A "keeper" magnet is also supplied to lock the stir bar in place while the
yeast is pitched, so the stir bar won't end up in your fermenter!
Shipped with a packing pad to avoid damage. Please remove lid to remove pad. Replace lid when pad has been removed.

This item wouldnt stir a 5l starter. Waste of money. Tried with 2 different sized stir bars. Made a video and sent it to AIH. Ended up with a refund.
Works amazing with my two liter flask. Five liter flask hangs off the edges and makes me nervous, so I put books along the sides to keep the flask sturdy. Plenty of power to get five liters stirring!
AIH is a great place to shop. Good service, great prices, nice people. I rarely, if ever, operate this beyond 75% speed because the pill flings off the curved bottom 5000ml flask. The vortex with yeast is rather small and I question how well it's sucking air down into the solution. It seems to spin enough to keep the yeast moving, so I think it's working well enough. I think this is a common issue with these large flasks...so I'm thinking I got the lucky one that is just on the edge of too convex to hold the pill on for the ride.
The saying go big or go home, rings true with the stir plate. Originally I bought the smaller plate to do my yeast starters, after several dozen, I wasn't very satisfied. Bought the 5L stir plate and I wish I bought this one to begin with. Produces a nice vortex, and is easily controllable. Not disappointed.
It's plastic, has a motor and a rheostat.... comes with magnetic stir 'bean' and keeper magnet, so u don't dump your stirrer into the fermenter... simple and effective. ockhams razor y'all. If ur in the market to make home brew starters, this will do the trick look no further.
