Description

The Stirstarter Yeast Stir Plate

Looking for a gadget that will improve your beer? Use The Stirstarter!!

This unit has two powerful NdFeB button magnets in the 12 VDC stir motor, which is controlled by a precision voltage regulator for easy speed adjustment. The RPMs of the drive motor are limited, so the motor will not "throw" the stir bar, yet it provides enough to get a good vortex going. A low voltage (110v), plug-in wall transformer provides power to the unit. The black plastic case dimensions are 6" x 4" x 2", large enough to accommodate a 2000 mL flask . A Teflon coated 1" x 5/16" stir bar is included

(2" stir bars are too long for this device, while we have had success using the 2" bar, it will be "thrown" from the magnet when the motor is at high speeds, "why would you turn your stir plate to higher speeds?" you ask. We aren't sure, but the coffee at McDonald's is hot whether the word "HOT" is printed on the cup or not)

A "keeper" magnet is also supplied to lock the stir bar in place while the
yeast is pitched, so the stir bar won't end up in your fermenter!

Really glad I bought this

Great little stir plate, has a trick to getting it started, but it's not hard. I love that I don't have to geep going out to the shop to shake my flask anymore.

Magnet is a pain

Device works fine but takes a little work to get set up correctly. The magnet is incredibly small and easily lost so be sure to remember where you keep it and also remember not to pitch it with your yeast on accident.

Magnets rub against lid

Not reliable. I messed around with it and finally removed the lid. The magnets riding around on the fan are impacting the box lid when the flask is set on it. Supplier needs to find a bit more rigid box. I'll figure something out...
