Kombucha Starter Culture
Each bag contains:
- 1 dehydrated kombucha starter culture (SCOBY)
- 5 pH strips

The Kombucha Starter Culture (SCOBY) is shipped in a dehydrated state and must be rehydrated before use. For best results, store in the refrigerator and use by the date on the box. Freezer storage is not recommended
What you’ll need:
- Cane sugar (organic recommended)
- Plain black tea
- Distilled white vinegar (or starter tea from another batch)
- Water free of chlorine or fluoride (bottled spring water)
Instructions for activating your SCOBY
In a glass jar or plastic container, prepare tea by combining 3 cups of hot water and ¼ cup of sugar. Add the tea and steep at least 10 minutes. Cool the mixture to room temperature (68-85°F). Remove the tea bags or completely strain the leaves from the liquid. Add ½ cup distilled white vinegar to the liquid. Add the dehydrated kombucha SCOBY. Cover with a coffee filter or cloth secured by a rubber band and let culture at room temperature, for at least 30 days.
