Looking for a Liquid or Dry Yeast Substitution? The brewers at Adventures in Homebrewing have tried most of them. The following are some suggestions that have worked for us.
Liquid Yeast Substitution: None
Dry Yeast Substitution: Saflager 34/70, Mangrove Jack's Bohemian Lager M84

Want to make a Yeast Starter? Home brewers are always led to believe making a yeast starter is for the advanced brewer. This could not be further from the truth. If anything beginning brewers should start with yeast starters. When you think about it they are nothing more than a small extract brew. Show Me How To Make A Yeast Starter

My Go To Pilsner Yeast

This is a great yeast and AIH is a fine company to deal with... My only gripe is they should stop offering Priority mail as a shipping option as my yeast took 12 days in transit... I hope it is still usable. I understand COVID has put a strain on shipping but every item I have shipped from AIH using priority mail is an issue.... They should just not even offer it.

Weak yeast

This yeast had been manufactured in Aug2020. After adding a yeast starter the way I always do it there was not much activity. A cell count only got me about 60 billion cells, live ones. About 50% was dead. Glad I had W34/70 in the fridge. Didnít wanna waste the entire batch. Still poured half a gallon of my wort in a different fermentor and added this Omega yeast but there is not much activity going on. Very disappointing. I still have another vial of this yeast and a Pilsner which was manufactured in June. Doubt this one will be worth anything. Donët think I will order this yeast again. Maybe thatës why itës 33% off. Better stick with WhiteLabs yeast.
