I tend to mix Maris Otter or Golden Promise 50/50% with my bulk base malt. This works well, and has created some excellent homebrews.
Bought this as the main grist for an English ESB Ale that I wanted to try. It worked very well for my first kegged brew. Initially, the beer had a sour front, but mellowed out after 2 - 3 more days in the keg to leave a nice, smooth, character that complimented the hops quite well.
Grains always fresh.
Just what I wanted.
Don't let the light color fool you. This malt is rich and gives a wonderful bready and biscuit like flavor. A must try for UK styles and as a base for SMaSH ales.
