Went from the Shirron plate to this. Reduced the time of transfer from an hour to 12 min. The therminator is awesome. Save water and time. Donít waste your money on a Shirron plate.
One of my favorite parts of a brew day has become timing just how fast this thing cools my wort. Decided to really nerd out yesterday and took some actual measurements. Using 50∞F water at 5 gal/minute it took 5.5 gallons of wort from boiling to 80∞F in five minutes flat. I did the math and that's 99% efficiency! Some of it was due to the outside air temperature (45∞F) and the 10' of 1/2" silicone line running on cold cement, but still amazing. If you're interested in water conservation definitely consider a brass restricted-flow water shut-off to throttle the water for maximum efficiency. Also, consider capturing the first 5-10 gallons to use for clean-up. I use the back-flush adapter to run the first 7.5 gallons of runoff water into my mash tun. I can't remember the exact temperature, but it was greater than 120∞F. More than warm enough to dissolve PBW and stay hot long enough to complete cleaning of my entire system after transferring wort to the fermentation vessel. Cheers!

Easy to set up & clean, fast as heck!
I've been using a coiled wort chiller for some time and even with my pump set up running iced water thru it the chill down time was still over 15 minutes. The first time using the Therminator and the iced water arrangement I ran 10 gallons thru, monitoring the output for good pitching temp with the Blichmann Thrumometer, in less than 5 minutes! Recommend you reverse flush it out immediately and maybe stop to shake it periodically while flushing as any grain particles seem to find any little interior corner to hide in and the sloshing helps dislodge them. Other than that, one of the best items I've used so far. I'd recommend it to anyone.
