Really can't beat the price for a stainless kettle, with 2 welded ports. The bottom is a little thinner than I was expecting (it made a 'BOING' sound when I sat it on the counter the first time), but considering the price, it makes sense. It is thin, but it's still sturdy and decent quality.
Both ports are welded nicely and do not leak. Probably worth mentioning the bottom port is a longer coupling that is long enough to thread a barb/fitting into from the inside of the pot as well as one for a valve on the outside. The top coupling is just a shorter one, with is fine for a thermometer.
The kettle did have a small dent near the bottom when it arrived. While I can blame UPS for this most likely, I'll note that the package had packing material above and below the kettle and a ton of paper IN IT (to keep the thermometer I ordered from bouncing around), but nothing around it but air in the box. The box was visibly damaged in a few spots, and maybe some extra packing material wouldn't have kept it from being dented...but we'll never know now.
Very nice for the cost!
Just used this for the first time and am very happy with it. Good stainless steel. The welded outlets do not leak with the valve and thermo that I installed. Better quality and lower price that anywhere else. And the folks at AIH are nice beer heads like me.
This pot is great. The handles are very sturdy and the volume markings inside the pot are awesome! They are just what we needed to gain control over our strike water and pre-boil volumes. It has been a pleasure using it. The only thing I would like to add is a false bottom, but I cannot seem to find one. Please let me know if one comes available! Great quality brew-pot for the price! I have since bought a second one for my wife. She loves it too!
I wanted a classic brew pot to replace my modified 15 gal keg for a lauter tun. The modified keg only has a 12" opening, which makes removing spent grains a chore. The 10 gallon brew pot is just the right size to hold enough grain to make a 10 gal batch of very high gravity brews (e.g. wee heavy) and cylindrical sides provides more options (e.g. brew in a bag) and is wide and short enough to make cleanup easier.
